  • Program notes:

The work is conceived and develops mainly around two musical reflections. The first finds its fulcrum in the concept of "sonic liberation": how can the piano – the resonant instrument par excellence – "expand" through fusion with foreign materials which, if on the one hand they increase its potential, can on the other hand constitute a limitation? This sonic ambivalence narratively runs throughout the piece, in which the interferences that "force" the resonant aspect and the natural timbre of the piano become, at the same time, a peculiar expression of new expressive means.

It is from this perspective of ambivalence that the second reflection takes place. The piano, in its intermittent attempts to liberate its own sounds, takes on an almost "human" aspect: each timbral episode is associated with a new character, a new voice that makes its way along the sound interferences and according to a precise narrative thread.

Thus the entry and exit of certain sonic atmospheres, suspension and certainty, calm and agitation are reflected in the immaterial world of timbre, in a continuous and extremely "human" dialogue between multiple universes of sounds.
