"Vedrem levarsi..." for two classical guitars is a work commissioned by the Verace Duo on the occasion of the centenary of Puccini's death. The piece revisits and transforms fragments of "Un bel dì vedremo" from Madama Butterfly, sometimes in an ironic tone, sometimes in a more dramatic way, upsetting Puccini's harmonies and adding unexpected and dramaturgically varied elements: the meaning of the text and of Puccini's theatricality is here transfigured in a reminiscent key.
However, there are new elements which blend with the musical quotes, in order to ferry the listener towards new sound dimensions that recall the Puccini atmosphere without ever immersing themselves completely in it, in a continuous game of balances.
